About
"... Maturity beyond their years"
- CLASH Magazine
Presenting under an alias inspired by Virginia Woolf's 'To the Lighthouse', Her Picture is the public confessional of singer Anny Tahaney, whose honest and thought-provoking songwriting is bewitching listeners in Scotland and beyond.
A former English Literature student, storytelling is at the heart of Tahaney's music, with her catalogue exploring issues such as working class frustration, generational trauma and healing. Backed by producer and co-writer Finlay Smith, Her Picture's sound is characterised by its cinematic and epic dynamics, where screeching guitars and haunting melodies blend together to create a unique soundscape that situates feminine rage and emotion at the heart of the narrative.
Her Picture's music has been championed by CLASH, NME and BBC Introducing, with her most recent body of work, concept EP 'Feed Me Hope', being labelled by Lock Magazine as "one of the most arresting releases to emerge out of the UK underground this year." Known for her captivating and commanding stage presence, Her Picture has shared stages with acts such as Swim School and Fletchr Fletchr, appeared on festival lineups for Tenement Trail and SWN, as well as showcasing as part of BBC Introducing live. She was also selected by a team of international media and industry to participate in New From Scotland's 2025 Talent Development programme, presented by Wide Days.
Having drawn inspiration from the likes of Ethel Cain, Aurora and Daughter, Her Picture is on the cusp of releasing her most artistically vulnerable and personal work yet, marking a defining and pivotal year ahead.
